Growing up, I was always around adult musicians who played for their entire lives. So that's what I wanted to do, and I always had that in mind.

Growing up in Dallas, my first influences on the guitar were T-Bone Walker and Les Paul. T-Bone taught me how to play lead guitar behind my head and do the splits in 1951 when I was nine.

I think the audiences abroad are older and come from a more mature society. They have a different understanding of whats happening as art.

You have to know what your value is. I started learning my value when I was 12 years old.

Our mission is to support people in their life's path or career path, as they define it, and really, to help people succeed in whatever way they choose to. That's what we started from.

A man divorcing would never be accused of choosing career over children.

I joined a very male-dominated profession back in 1986. I wanted to work with big multinational Fortune 500 companies, but you don't come into the firm and automatically get those. So, quite frankly, a key to my success was that I found male mentors and male sponsors. I think some women are afraid to say that.

I have two kids, career and I travel, and I don't think my life is any different than most couples. The most valuable commodity now for many people is time and how to parcel that out.
