SpongeBob's voice is really pingy and forward and nasally. The problem is, if you live in the extreme of that for more than 10 minutes, it can be a little grating, and it can be hard on your voice. Also, it gets in the way of the acting to be forcing your voice into this place.

I would say I'm the normal level of 'SpongeBob' fan, which is that it's been out since I was a kid, and it's part of the zeitgeist.

We're all sort of aware what 'SpongeBob the Musical' could be in the hands of the wrong people.

I feel like I've been able to grow personally because of playing SpongeBob.

I love dark humor that crosses the line and makes you say, 'That's so wrong!' And that's 'Family Guy' to me.

I feel I don't get credit enough for it, the pioneering I did in comedy.

A pitfall of making a comedy with a studio-and it's also an American cultural thing-is that I get tired of being encouraged to go always for laughs.

The only time I don't get nervous is if I'm doing a home club in L.A. and I know all of my friends there because then I play to my friends. When I first started doing comedy, I hated it when my friends came; it made me more nervous. Now I just try to make them laugh.
