When I was growing up, my father helped kindle my passion for innovation and technology. He was a high-ranking executive at AT&T and used our family dinner table as a focus group.

We need to be in front of consumer trends and translate those trends into insights and foresights.

Moving with the times is an important idea for strategy today.

The top principle for disruptive and sustaining innovation is that it has to have a laser focus on customers. Innovation begins with their needs and expectations.

We should restore a proper balance in environmental regulation and energy production that is based on common sense, not political agendas.

Both climate change and extinction are results of our tyranny over the nonhuman world and our domination of, and exploitation of, whole categories of each other - and those, in turn, are clearly linked to agriculture, the cattle-industrial complex, capitalism.

The motivation should come from regulatory enforcement, but enforcement is weak, and environmental litigation is near to impossible. So there's an urgent need for extensive public participation to generate another kind of motivation.

Ultimately, I love everything about making games, but I've come to hate everything about conventional sustainability, and I know I'm not alone.
