I don't go online, I don't read reviews, I try not to look at anything on the Internet.

Only recently have I been introduced to the gym and heavy weightlifting and things like that. Before that, when I grew up, I just did a lot of gymnastics and dance. I had more of an athletic background, but nothing where I was in the gym or using any kind of weights.

I'm happy to say I'm a feminist. Being a feminist is just believing in equal rights. Man, woman, gay, straight, black, white - we're all in it together.

I don't analyse things, and I don't look back. I can think forward - but only about my family. I don't look outside that and certainly don't care what anyone else thinks.

My father has taught me not to succumb to nihilism, and my mother has taught me the value of hard work and determination.

I'm really still a child of the Forties. I still think about it a lot, about the repercussions of armed conflict. Until 1953 we had rationing. We couldn't buy meat, we couldn't buy pleasurable goods like cigarettes and sweets. I didn't starve - my family were lucky - but I knew what it was like standing in line waiting for foodstuffs.

It's great to see that kind of support online. For people to be messaging myself, my nan and the rest of my family, all the support has been great.

When I looked further into my mother's history, I realised that her anxieties and her neuroses could be accounted for by facts from a very early age. Her parents, William Henry Jones and Sarah Emily, were desperately poor.
