I think everything should be in verse. 'The New York Times' should be in verse.

Writing a play, you start with less, so more is demanded of you. It's as if you have to not only write a symphony, but invent the instruments as well.

With my plays, when the lights go down, at least the audience isn't thinking, 'Oh, God, two more hours of this.'

Plays are always about intense relationships, whether they're intense love relationships or family relationships or existential relationships.

I consider a CD or a comedy collection as a record of what I've been doing, and I try to wrap it up and start new material.

Comedy and politics have a lot in common. Both are great ways to pick up chicks - just look at Governor Spitzer. Or Ellen Degeneres. Both require spending time on the road meeting strangers who often have the desire to throw things at you. Both are difficult, if not impossible, to do all alone. And both rely heavily on personality.

I love to laugh, and laughter is one of my favorite things. When you have a really good laugh, you feel great afterwards.

I have no idea how to use social media for anything other than forwarding a good fart joke.
