I related to 'A Clockwork Orange' in a personal way. I was a bit of a thug growing up. It's taken some reform for me. Thank God for artistry and creativity as an outlet.

So many of the bands that influenced me growing up were English, even if I didn't realise it. English pop ruled the world in the '80s!

Tolerance, compromise, understanding, acceptance, patience - I want those all to be very sharp tools in my shed.

All art stems from a place of alienation. Intimate and alone. Most people are oppressed by the opinion of others, but I was not that way. I was afraid of the repercussions of not doing what I was told to do, what I was called to do by a creator.

I really, really like 'Eastbound & Down.' It's one of the few things that makes me laugh. It's almost too funny to get an award.

I can do comedy, so people want me to do that, but the other side of comedy is depression. Deep, deep depression is the flip side of comedy. Casting agents don't realize it but in order to be funny you have to have that other side.

Now the point of comedy is not just looking funny, it's use of language. We have at our disposal a great language... and the imaginative, creative use of that language can be at the service of humour.

I really like just super dry comedy.
