In high school, my English teacher Celeste McMenamin introduced me to the great novels and Shakespeare and taught me how to write. Essays, poetry, critical analysis. Writing is a skill that was painful then but a love of mine now.

I'm trying to go with the flow, which is not what I used to do. I used to try to micromanage my career choices.

My dad's paternal grandparents were musically inclined. And I remember as a little kid going to visit them in their senior building, and they were, like, the stars of the building, especially hosting and performing in their senior talent show.

Obviously, I am a huge Matt Morrison fan, and I am a big Lea Michele fan because I know those guys from way back.

I have an amazing education through my wife on female fans and perspectives on it. Things that I never would have thought of.

But if we learn to think of it as anticipation, as learning, as growing, if we think of the time we spend waiting for the big things of life as an opportunity instead of a passing of time, what wonderful horizons open out!

I enjoyed physical education and lunch time. The social aspect of school was great, but as soon as I left school, I wanted to get out there and race. I couldn't sit still for long.

There's something to be taken from every job, whether it's crap or good. Sometimes, on the awful ones, I get more of an education about other areas of my business.
