I wish my mother had left me something about how she felt growing up. I wish my grandmother had done the same. I wanted my girls to know me.

One of the biggest heroes and influences of mine, especially acting and working in comedy, is Steve Coogan.

I always stayed away from political commentary. First of all, I didn't feel entitled. What I may feel about a candidate, I'm a comedian. I mean, if people like my comedy, that doesn't mean they should vote for the person I like. That's why I always kind of stayed away from endorsements.

You have to know you are in a comedy. You have to know that you are actually allowing the audience to participate on some level. When you go dark and mean it, then you don't let them in.
