I'm not Carl Lewis the athlete any more. I'm growing into a new person with new interests and new goals.

Amateurism is the strongest form of discrimination in sports. Because it discriminates against the underprivileged, it discriminates against the poor. If we want sports to go back to the wealthy, let's make it amateur again.

Sport is made to be live. You can't watch something three hours later already knowing the results; it's not the same experience.

When I was a kid, we played outside until we couldn't see and had to go in. I rode my bicycle and played tag football, kick the can, and hide-and-go-seek.

Having your competitiveness and your desire as an athlete called into question is, for sure, frustrating.
