My world was small growing up. I never really left the three-mile radius of my tiny neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley.

I like learning stuff. The more information you can get about a person or a subject, the more you can pour into a potential project. I made a decision to do different things. I want to do things that have a better chance of being thought of as original. I do everything I can to disrupt my comfort zone.

Under no condition can you teach curiosity.

Curiosity is the process of asking questions, genuine questions, that are not leading to an ask for something in return.

Steve Earle had a mainstream career. Dwight Yoakam had a mainstream career. Willie Nelson did. But they always made good music, they always stuck to who they were. They weren't relying on radio like a lot of people are in Nashville.

You appreciate just being able to work because there are so many actors that aren't. You have to appreciate every single job just the same.

If you look at her photo log, the photographers that she was able to work with throughout her career framed her in the proper way. It was the proper context.
