As you grow up, you become more comfortable with your own peccadilloes, and I'm bad with people who aren't self-motivated. And now, when I see them coming, I run the other way.

I'm a huge believer in learning anything from multiple points of view.

Even as an 18-year-old, I had to grow comfortable with my leadership style, which is that I was really impatient with under-motivated people - extremely impatient, to the point where I was counterproductive as a manager of underproductive people. And that hasn't really changed. If people need to be motivated, I'm no good.

I ran the high school newspaper and was in student government. I played sports my whole life but was never picked as captain.

Obviously there's not much options when you're a cartoonist - you pretty much either work at home or rent an office I guess, and working at home just seems easier.

In my barrio, jobs work and money saves lives. When I have had the funds to place a gang member on a job site and pay his salary, I've seen him stop banging. When, on the rarest of occasions, an employer has offered a job to one of these youth, I've witnessed kids suddenly have a reason to get up in the morning.

I've made a lot of career mistakes. A lot. Actually, a lot of personal ones, too.

I would try to guide my children in a different way to have a career. Something besides being an actress, singer or model. I'm definitely going to push my kids in the other direction.
