I have a way of synthesizing. That's what I would encourage any young person to do: take in the ideas, the conflicts, and the world. Watch and listen and live before you go public.

I'm coming from the notion that acting is an art. It is not a business. It is about building characters, not about selling personalities.

I don't have any artifacts of my profession in my house; the Oscar is in storage.

I am constantly asked, 'What's the difference between acting in the theater and acting in film?' The only answer I can give is the space - you adapt to the space. But acting is acting.

Exercise is like an addiction. Once you're in it, you feel like your body needs it.

I was considered the most progressive person the whole time I was in the legislature. I negotiated health care, I negotiated a minimum wage increase.

My contention is that if we expand the patient-centered health care approach, we'll have less people that have to go the medical clinic that provides free service or go to the emergency room - they can have their own health care plan.

If members of Congress believe so strongly that government-run health care is the best solution for hard working American families, I think it only fitting that Americans see them lead the way.
