I enjoyed a close relationship with my mother, who set a wonderful example. As such, I have always tried to be as open and honest as possible with the girls growing up. I let them know they could always come to me with anything - and I would be there to support them.

I loved Diahann Caroll growing up. I love a sophisticated, classy woman.

My mother was a very amazing woman. She was a very strong, remarkable woman.

I think that everybody, at one time or another, has been betrayed and lied to, and it's about the pain, and it's about the healing process, and it's about how do you get past that and move on.

Home is where I am. Sadly, I don't need a history to be able to exist somewhere. When I was still very young, my father told me: 'Look, we will always have to move, again and again.' I thought that was marvelous! That's how I got used to thinking that life meant starting from scratch, over and over again.

I understand why parents worry about books - they're worried about their kids. They want to keep their kids safe. But parents aren't always realistic.

My father left our family for his 'yoga buddy' in 1984, when I was 15. I always stayed in touch with him - I had a deep need to be connected to my father, even though it could be painful at times. I shunned the yoga community because of his actions but eventually realized that yoga could be the antidote to my pain.

I'm lucky to have family around me. Otherwise, I'll be taking the risk of falling in love with myself.
