That's the one thing I think I have figured out pretty decently well is I'm a performer. I've always been an entertainer; y'know, growing up, that's all I've ever done.

Growing up, I wanted straight hair so bad, like Justin Bieber.

I remember feeling the energy of people. That stuck with me. Understanding that I could stand behind a mic and captivate people. I was always obsessed with that.

It's truthful - every single song is an extension of me and a truthful piece of inspiration from my past or something I'm currently going through.

Over my career, I've reinvented myself numerous times. I covered the Pentagon, the State Department, and the CIA. I wrote about labor wars, trade wars and real wars. I chronicled a nuclear plant meltdown and the defeat of Communism. I co-founded a couple of media businesses.

I wanted to use what I was, to be what I was born to be - not to have a 'career', but to be that straightforward obvious unmistakable animal, a writer.

I'd like to have a solid, classy career with a good CV of work. I want to be known for acting, not my personal life. Women like Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet - they're intelligent and sophisticated. I want to be given those opportunities.

In the day-to-day, farm work is stress relief for me. At the end of the day, I love having this other career - my anti-job - that keeps me in shape and gives me control over a vegetal domain.
