Isn't it strange that its easier to be gentle with the feelings of people we care less about than those of our children, whom we love so much?

I remember hearing stories from my mother and father about their parents and grandparents when they were taken off the reservation, taken to the boarding schools, and pretty much taught to be ashamed of who they were as Native Americans. You can feel that impact today.

Til I was 10 years, I didn't know I had only two siblings. I always thought I had 10 and that they were all my family.

If you start off as a fearsome figure in pop culture, it's almost axiomatic that at some point, years under the lights softens you into a cuddly family figure.
