When I was growing up in the Isle of Man with ambitions of being a performer, I really wanted to go to see a Broadway show.

I think within what my job is, you always have to find a balance, because this job is also a life choice. You're traveling about; your hours are all over the place. If you're in a show, you're out every night.

Most men are far younger when they have their children and they're building their careers. If they are older they probably don't have the luxury of retiring - and generally sixty something-year-old men don't choose to have a child and spend all their time with that child. So it was a very unique situation.

My family don't watch a lot of what I do. Films are a bit too arty-farty for them, certainly the ones I do!

Any parent who says parenting came easily to them is not being honest with themselves. Parenting is hard.
