I think because of my background - I went through university and did an academic career and fell into acting - I've never had a game plan for my career because I got into it quite ad hoc.

Because you've done the horrible jobs, it gives you an even grittier determination to succeed.

I got into acting for the different scenarios and roles and meeting different people.

People identify with being heartbroken. We've all been heartbroken, haven't we? I've been dumped, and it feels horrible.

I believe at the heart of any revolution for social justice and human dignity are consent and agency, the unequivocal belief that I own my body - not the state, not the church/mosque/temple, not the street and not the family.

I never took that stuff personally when people said I was too young, too inexperienced. I get politics. I get attack ads. But they said 'mobbed up family.' That we were criminals. That kills me.

I believe in imagination. I did Kramer vs. Kramer before I had children. But the mother I would be was already inside me.

If we care about family stability, if we care about community stability, then we need fewer evictions.
