I tend to watch a lot of lower-budget movies to find out what's doing down there and find out who's coming up.

Obviously, fans are the beginning and end for any artist. The minute your fans embrace you and accept you, you begin this ride of being in music and having a career doing something you love. You get to go be a kid and live out your dreams by performing music for fans who come out to your shows.

Earlier in my career, I wanted to do a lot of things under the radar because I felt uncomfortable in engaging with the fans because then they're thinking, 'Well, you're doing it for publicity,' or whatever.

My career did start in the Spanish language industry, and that's probably because my father is my manager. He pushed my career in the direction he knew best.
