It's no sin to make a critical study of Brazil's reality. A small percentage own land. Most people don't.

Washing one's hands of the conflict between the powerful and the powerless means to side with the powerful, not to be neutral.

The oppressed, having internalized the image of the oppressor and adopted his guidelines, are fearful of freedom.

At a certain point in their existential experience, the oppressed feel an irresistible attraction toward the oppressor and his way of life. Sharing this way of life becomes an overpowering aspiration.

In every new generation, the impulses supposed to have been rooted out by discipline in the child break forth again when the struggle for existence - of the individual in society, of the society in the life of the state - begins. These passions are not transformed by the prevalent education of the day, but only repressed.

But to this day - I'm very literate now, I love to read, I read constantly - words don't resonate the way they do to a person with a formal education. They're like a maze, a puzzle that has to be opened up.

What's got me excited about the education space is the growth of the Internet over the next 10, 20, 30 years.

I want education for the sons and the daughters of all the extremists, especially the Taliban.
