You'll always remember your first car and the memories that come with it - that sense of adventure!

I was always told as a kid the most important thing you could have was a job that paid you sick pay if you needed it and came with a bit of a pension.

The worst job that I ever did, I used to have a Saturday job cleaning the dough off bread-making machines for Warburtons in Bolton. That was horrendous.

Every parent just wants their child to be happy and to protect them. I should be the happiest I have ever been with my career, family and friends, but I can honestly say I am never happy in myself now. I constantly worry about them.

Once you have kids, you think like a parent. You get a lot more protective.

Just previous to the birth of my little son, my mind gave way and my child was born in the asylum for the insane at Stockton, Cal. My boy was buried there.

We live in a society today where these children can be wanted children. Even if you don't want to keep this child after you've had it, there's plenty of young couples out there, that want children.

When I visit schools, I try to reach kids who perhaps don't have books at home or aren't that keen on reading. Somehow you draw them in with the pictures and then perhaps they'll want to learn more about it. I use a lot of audience participation and find kids who aren't really part of it and try to include them - to draw in those reluctant readers.
