The back, it's frustrating. It's hard to figure out. You go to bed feeling good, and you wake up tight. It seems like, when you have a bad back, your whole body feels like crap.

Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible - the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.

When I was in China, Mao was Chairman, and parents were terrified to tell their children anything that differed from the party line in case the children repeated it and endangered the whole family.

Not everyone's a perfect parent, but we do learn, and we grow from that. I'm not trying to be harsh on my family because it does make them sad to think back about how they used to be and some of their choices.

I liked the idea of being a father, to have a child, and finally Francesca arrived, and now the house is insane because she cries all day, and at night, she doesn't let us sleep.
