I grew up doing musical theater. I went to a school for musical theater, so that was always what I wanted to do growing up.

A lot of the best of what's come from working on 'Orange Is the New Black' is working with the Women's Prison Association and kind of getting to see firsthand what they do for incarcerated women.

We want to make legislation; we want to put laws on women's uteruses and whether or not they can protect themselves from pregnancy or whatever, but we don't want to protect you once you're pregnant.

There were no museums or galleries in Shanghai, but I was very keen on art - I was always sketching and copying, and sometimes I think that my whole career as a writer has been the substitute work of an unfulfilled painter.

I was raised around a lot of artists, musicians, photographers, painters and people that were in theater. Just having the art-communal hippie experience as a child, there wasn't a clear line that was drawn. We celebrated creative experience and creative expression. We didn't try and curtail it and stunt any of that kind of growth.

Music is an art form that I love dearly, and it's allowed me to bring so many people together and meet so many people.

There are no great limits to growth because there are no limits of human intelligence, imagination, and wonder.
