Growing up, I was always playing with video games.

If we can inspire a kid to pick up a guitar - and less and less kids are doing so these days - it'd be really cool because I know how it felt growing up and how special that was for me.

One thing I loved when I was growing up, you maybe saw one review from a magazine like 'Rolling Stone,' but now there are 150 reviews before an album even comes out. There are so many opinions out there, but the only one that really matters is your own.

When we were growing up, we listened to all sorts of music, but the first band that really grabbed all of us live was AFI.

Growth doesn't hurt. This is what I've learned. In the end, it doesn't hurt. It hurts while it's happening. But in the end, you know, for life, for parenting, and for the arts, it's not a bad - not a bad thing to try for.

The prism through which you experience life is so unique. There is no objective experience.

Families interest me - I'm part of one; most of us come from one. And I'm curious about the choices made in life, how they affect things, and how those choices happen.

As a kid, I learned from my parents, teachers, coaches, and friends that what mattered most was Truth - to uncover it, share it and fight for it. That core value is the foundation of the American Dream. And my life has been about fighting for Truth, at every step.
