Baseball wasn't necessarily my first sport in terms of liking it. I'd never played baseball or softball growing up.

I think any player, as a rookie coming into any sport, has to prove themselves.

I was a tomboy growing up, so I think I naturally take on a little male swagger.

I think pressure is good. Just watching my brother and my dad be professional athletes, I think pressure has driven them and has caused them to excel more.

But for me, I thought you made a record, you got on a bus, went out and played your shows and made a lot of money. That was the way it was supposed to go down. But there's a lot more to it than that. There are a lot of early mornings, late nights, a lot of traveling, a lot of being away from home, being away from your family.

My family are the most important thing to me.

One of the things that concerned me was the way the system operated: the wife who went out to work got a full personal allowance, but the wife who was working at home got nothing. This was particularly hard on wives who gave up work for a time to bring up children.

We are very excited about welcoming a new member of the family, a daughter!
