I was very worried about my mother, growing up - a lot. I do not want my children to be worried about me.

When I was growing up, I wanted to adopt, because I was aware there were kids that didn't have parents.

Acting helped me as I was growing up. It helped me learn about myself, helped me travel, helped me understand life, express myself, all those wonderful things. So I'm very, very grateful; it's a fun job. It's a luxury.

I want to support other women because of the opportunities I've had - and I've had a lot of opportunities. What I try as a female director is to do the best job I can and, in the meantime, bring attention to as many other female directors and writers as I can.

So often, I think, in these relationship comedies, they don't necessarily reflect the people that I know. They don't reflect myself.

I had a friend who worked at a hospice, and he said people in their final moments don't discuss their successes, awards or what books they wrote or what they accomplished. They only talk about their loves and their regrets, and I think that's very telling.

I text a lot people, because it's how I stay connected with all my family and friends when I'm on set and traveling.

That's what my life has come down to - how can I have fun for me, be with my friends and my family, and how can I help other people.
