Armando Iannucci is one of my heroes. As I was growing up, he was probably the most influential comic voice that I had.

Most stand-ups, once they have done it, think of it as their default job. I'm pretty sure Jon Stewart still feels that way now. You are a stand-up first; other things come and go.

Stand-up comedy is a sickness. Who wouldn't want a room full of people laughing and screaming at you just because of who you are? Nothing is as good, except maybe having a baby.

I'm at least getting my foot in the door as far as doing straight dramatic parts, which no one would have ever considered me for in the '80s. I never objected to that because I love doing comedy, and I'm not the kind of actor that insists that unless you're doing a serious dramatic role, you're not acting.

I don't have to fear that if I do more comedy I'm not going to get to do everything I want. I'll get to do my 'Yentl.'

I think comedy is a genre that has a lot of potential. It is a very content-driven film genre.
