I've always wanted to be part of stories about social justice - urgent, meaningful, substantial dramas.

It was the middle of winter, Con Edison had shut off my power, and I didn't have an agent. I made this VHS tape of some monologues, but I didn't even have the money for a MetroCard. So I walked the tapes 'round to the different agencies in town.

The facts are the vice president's company that he was CEO of, that did business with sworn enemies of the United States, paid millions of dollars in fines for providing false financial information, it's under investigation for bribing foreign officials.

When the 'Guardian' is commissioning writers to write obituary pieces about you and your career... it doesn't get much nastier than that. And you've just got to go, 'It doesn't actually matter.'

When you are 28, 29 years old... you are aware that this is going to be your last big contract of your career. You have to make up your mind: What is it that I want? Do I want to find something new, a new culture, a new league, a new language, new teammates, a new city? And what is it that I need to be happy? What is it that I need to perform?

I wouldn't have traded my career path for anything.
