I learned to play chess at a young age, and I think that's where learning to plan things out and put things in position, that was the best thing for me.

The fans care about somebody who cares about them. It's not all about somebody who can put the ball in the cup. I think that's my calling.

So basketball has always taken me places that I could have never imagined.

Some people think racism has dissipated or no longer exists. But it's hidden in more strategic places.

When I'm doing sports, I don't feel anything at all. I enjoy the moment. It's a safe haven. But once you try to let someone inside your soul, you become vulnerable. You have to be comfortable in your own skin. I don't open myself up like that to a lot of people. It takes courage.

My parents were great at making sure I got out of bed when I needed to play football on a Sunday morning and that I was ready after school to go to training on a Tuesday and Thursday. But it was never forced upon me or rammed down my throat. If it had been, I could have ended up hating sport.

When I first started out in cycling, if there were two girls there, that was successful; but now, if there are 20 girls there, it's just unbelievable. The growth of the sport is just incredible.

I love playing basketball. And to be able to continue to play as a job, that's the best to me.
