When I was a kid, I wanted to be a boy. I really had gender issues.

I think a little tidbit I can give you is that I grew up with basically everything handed to me, except for my career. I worked for that.

I'm a person who likes habit and knowing what my job is.

The comedians who I admire that are really good, they always take it to a deep psychological place.

Certainly, when I left New Zealand, there was no career there as a comedian. I was doing more live gigs than anyone, and I was maybe doing three a week. Even then, it would often be the same people in the audience, going, 'I saw you on Tuesday, mate!'

As an actor, you can steer a scene in another direction by playing it a little differently. And honestly? I like being an actor, and I want to keep having a career.

It's true that youth is wasted on the young and, if I had my life to live over again, I suppose I would pay more attention to my career. I would make better choices. But, in my defence, I would say that I have three wonderful children, and that's something I am very proud of.

I would never have dreamed to have had such a nice career as this. I like football, and this is like a nice football journey.
