I've played at centre-half plenty of times before.

There have been ups and downs over the years, but that's in the past, and now I'm just looking forward and focussed on the future ahead.

I've had injuries that have hampered my career but that is part and parcel of being a footballer. You just have to bounce back and remain focused.

To be honest, from England Under-16s, through the 17s and 18s, really all the way through my youth career, I played at centre-half. For some reason, when I made my debut at Everton, I just played in central midfield, and it went from there.

But also outside of football, with the family, the most important is to settle down, to have everything good outside with school, etc.

I love business and that's why I go on other people's board because it is my hobby. Some people join a tennis club to do things in their spare time. I join boards because that's what I love.

About a year after I retired from playing, I decided that I wanted to getback to college, where I had the greatest time of my life, and to get involved with college football.

First it was football, then basketball. I still think about going back to college and playing basketball. Another romantic thing was that I wanted to join the Army, but it was only because I loved the uniforms.
