I grew up on Jane Austen novels and was a massive literature fanatic when I was a kid - I read everything I could get my hands on.

We're often blinded by romance; we decide to not see things we don't want to see, and put up with behavior that we shouldn't put up with.

My dad was in these pretty big films that were relevant to my age group. I remember him doing 'Richie Rich' when I was eight-years-old, and then 'Jumanji.' I remember going to these sets, and I loved being on film sets. I just found it fascinating watching how stories were made.

I pretended to be super-cool and not be bothered by things and play off any kind of heartache when I was younger, for sure.

Well I'm not much of a singer. But it's been a really nice time to do film, television, theater and have it all happening at once. That wasn't planned but it just happens.

I could hear music playing in the background of works by certain authors, like Poe and Shakespeare. And I discovered Nikki Giovanni when I was in eighth grade. Her writing has a musical energy with pulse and rhythm, almost like jazz or hip-hop.

I'm not feeling much pressure for the Olympics because I think I already have done many things in my career. I will try to enjoy my second Olympics.

I see my career as not just music, but as hopefully an entertainer on all mediums, and someone who can have real influence and make great art.
