I don't think any evil character thinks that they are evil - they think they have insight that people don't.

I am a strange creature. I want to challenge myself and keep people guessing with the roles I take.

The only way you learn is by doing. You learn through deed, so that's kind of my aspiration for the time being.

The smells are very strong on 'Game of Thrones': the incense, the fire, the heat of all the burns. The smell of Lancel's Faith Militant cloth is very thick in my nostrils right now. And I think the warmth of it all: the hard work ethics, the ambiance, the temperature of the set. There are so many sensory memories of it, which will never leave me.

My comedy is different than a lot of people's.

I've always hated the term 'alternative'; I only use it because when I say it, people know what I'm talking about. I always thought it was weird when guys like myself or Patton Oswalt or Dana Gould, these older guys, were called 'alternative' comedy.

I go to the British Comedy Awards and, you know, quite a few people were making jokes at my expense. It just made me feel awful, because I am there with my wife and she has gone out and bought a dress. And it is my big night and I won, and yet the overriding experience was that of nastiness.

All my work shares a kind of balance between black comedy and sad and despairing melancholy.
