Life is full of joys and sorrows, much of it our own making. Sadly, the West has voted time and time again for bigger government, more inflation, higher taxes and excessive regulation - all policies that have kept us from Adam Smith's vision of an opulent society.

In our so-called democracy we are accustomed to give the majority what they want rather than educate them to understand what is best for them.

When you decide to get involved in a military operation in a place like Syria, you've got to be prepared, as we learned from Iraq and Afghanistan, to become the government, and I'm not sure any country, either the United States or I don't hear of anyone else, who's willing to take on that responsibility.

If the Republicans get control back of the United States Senate, we will no longer have a check and balance on the White House, on the Republican Congress.
