I think I'm the first 1990-born guy to win a Masters 1000, so it's quite special to be the first one in a very strong group of guys. There are a lot of guys playing great, and hopefully there are going to be a lot more coming.

When I was growing up, I played a lot of different sports. There was a time when I was playing field hockey, tennis, and soccer at the same time. I was actually quite good at all of those sports.

Every good tennis player has to have a short memory. Good or bad.

I've been shadowing my brother since I was a little kid. Maybe that helped me feel more comfortable with the big guys.

In Portland, I am more involved in the details of trade discussions because I've been around that sport longer and can watch tape and can give some input to the drafting process. In football, not at all. It's so specialized.

Basketball paid for four years of my education, and I am so proud of that.

You cannot just switch football on and off; it's intense. There were times when I probably shouldn't have got involved in certain things and said certain things, but you feel that sometimes you have to stand up for what you believe. Maybe the supporters looked to me to stand up as well.

I am aware of the risk with all the media attention, all the glitz and glamour around football. And that was the only piece of advice my father gave me about my future - to stay myself. I know where I come from.
