Very early on, I was writing stories, and I was amazed at Spielberg's movies when I was young. Coming from the countryside, I was so impressed with the way he was able to tell stories and the way he was able to deal with le merveilleux - the wonders.

The truth is, I'm someone coming from a spoiled society - the worst thing we deal with in Canada is winter.

The humor is essentially dark for a cartoon and sophisticated. But at the same time, being a cartoon gives the writers more freedom than in a normal sitcom. It always pushes the line that, despite human failings, the Simpsons are really decent people.

It's like life: you have both comedy and drama. There's a balance, and I'm lucky enough to have it in my work.

To me, comedy is a game.
