I want to stop directing so many of resources to the military budget and focus them here at home. I believe government should invest in public infrastructure.

Ideology that believes government is bad, and that public institutions and places are not valuable, is as destructive as corporate greed.

It's really Democrats who are fighting for working families and small businesses and trying to address the biggest problems that we have, which are huge disparities in incomes and wealth and money influencing the Democratic process.

I bring to the table core Democratic values and can articulate them very strongly. I'm not someone who tries to claim the middle.

It was easy being healthy when I was young. I was full of energy, so sports and physical challenges were fun. But as I got older and the spring left my step, exercise became harder, and eating, drinking and watching TV became easier. By the time I was 50, I'd put on 50 pounds.

I am a teacher. It's how I define myself. A good teacher isn't someone who gives the answers out to their kids but is understanding of needs and challenges and gives tools to help other people succeed. That's the way I see myself, so whatever it is that I will do eventually after politics, it'll have to do a lot with teaching.

We want our students to graduate from high school, but we want them to graduate with a plan, whether it's college or career.

The thing about anything in life is you have to get ready for it. Study, learn.
