I'm the guy coming from Juilliard.

Growing up, we never got to see a hero who didn't have superpowers who looked like us, that you could kind of look to and say, 'I could be that guy one day. I could be a patriot. I could be a soldier. I could work in the government and be a hero.'

I'm so OCD about prep work and learning lines and stuff.

I have members of my family who are in the military. I have friends who are in the military. Classmates who served in the military.

When I started comedy, I was a big Eddie Murphy fan. I thought if you did stand-up, you were supposed to know how to act, write, and host. I thought it was all one thing. That's why it doesn't feel like I'm transitioning to acting: because in my stand-up, I do characters all the time.

I couldn't tell a story if my life depended on it. I'm the world's worst joke-teller.

My idol is Bea Arthur. I really tried to follow her example. She is one of my comedy 'she-roes.'

Prior to Wordsworth, humor was an essential part of poetry. I mean, they don't call them Shakespeare comedies for nothing.
