I always had games on Saturdays as I was growing up.

We're professional footballers, so we have to go out there and perform as best we can and try and get the results that we want.

Ever since I was a boy, I have wanted to be a professional footballer and to captain my country one day.

All I have ever wanted to do is be a professional footballer.

I've always been able to get into the box, but in the past, I'd been very rash in my finishing; I wasn't clear with what I was doing in the final third. When it came to shooting, I was very rushed. I wasn't hitting the ball cleanly.

I think a top-class midfielder needs to be able to tackle, get up and down the pitch, pass, create opportunities, and score goals. That's why I try to do everything; that's what I judge my game on.

As a kid, I was always pretending to score the goal in the FA Cup final, and I managed to live my dream.

I get the normal stats, like tackles and pass completion and high-intensity runs. I get them after every game to see how similar they are to every game and to make sure I'm hitting the targets - or not too far away from them.

Winning just makes you more determined to go on and do more.

I grew up watching the Olympics and did some athletics for my school, winning the Welsh pentathlon championship.

Competition is to be expected at a club like Arsenal.

I am quite a down-to-earth person.
