I am growing with my audience. When I made my debut, I was 24, and they have grown up with me. They are with me with each choice of mine.

When I was growing up, I heard horror stories about producers losing their houses overnight. No matter who the family is, hearing of them getting evicted is very sad.

I realise that women don't want to get treated differently but just equally. I don't know what feminism is all about, but I understand that women should be treated equally, and I endorse that thought.

I wanted to be performer; like, I used to dance at weddings. I felt acting was my calling, and that is something I wanted to do.

I was not always someone who wanted to get married or thought I would get married, so being a true writer, I was always navel-gazing: 'What are good marriages? What are bad marriages?'

I'd like to see marriage count again among African-Americans and not just in the society in general.
