I didn't have a choice growing up but to be more insecure because others had more.

Coming from where I came from, it was unimaginable to ever be wealthy. That was just too far out of my reach.

I certainly could've gone off track many, many times in my youth.

In a way, we women take on more than we need to sometimes.

To me, it's not the end of the world if I end up not being with someone. I love romance. I love sex. I love men's company, but I don't feel I have to be married. Men are a wonderful part of life, like chocolate. But my life goes on whether they're there or not.

I do not believe that defending traditional marriage between one man and one woman excludes anybody or usurps anybody's civil rights and denies anybody their civil rights.

A first love is something that lasts forever in your heart. It's something that marks you.

I was raised, myself, by extremely strict but also extremely loving Chinese immigrant parents. To this day, I believe that their having high expectations for me, coupled with love, was the greatest gift that anyone's ever given me. And so that's why, even though my husband is not Chinese, I try to raise my own two daughters the same way.
