I used to love American Westerns, growing up in Germany.

Many times, the way I write my themes or melodies is that I hear it, and then I sing into my phone or something, or I'll scribble down on a piece of paper.

I like to have recognizable themes and sounds that really connect to the project and that you can identify with that particular project. My goal is always, 'When that theme comes on - even if you're not in the room - you hear it and say, 'Oh my show is starting, I gotta watch.'

My task is to tell a story with the music. I always like to have themes in terms of characters or plots, and things that can tell a story always interest me the most.

I would have to have some tragedy and romance in my life, but I've actually had a very cushioned, caring upbringing. I'm desperately seeking some edge. Maybe I'll find it one day.

I don't much care who is gay or straight or married or not. I mostly notice if they are brave enough to confront bigotry.

I love, love songs, but sometimes it's okay to just be young and talk about something other than getting married or falling in love.

To All The Boys' is one film amongst a couple other romantic comedies through the decades that promotes... I don't know what they're calling it. A modern man? A man that's more emotionally accessible and available and willing to communicate and actually care and nurture.
