When you're dealing with a very sick person and you're doing something to them, an intervention, be it a procedure or a medication, safety is critical.

You can have an epidemic in a state. You can have it in a region. You can have it in a country where the critical level of disease passes a certain threshold, and we call that an 'epidemic threshold.'

It is now widely recognized that any attempt at malaria eradication must be a long-term commitment that involves multiple interventions, disciplines, strategies and organizations.

The world is a place that is so interconnected that what happens in another part of the world will impact us.

I've grown up in the public eye, and every decision I've made has always been so public and often inaccurately reported.

For me, 'I Am Woman' is all about transition. I turned 21 in December, so I'm not completely grown up yet but I'm not a little girl anymore. Just in that in-between stage. The song is everything I have ever heard a woman say. I loved this song for me and every young lady, girl and woman to be able to feel empowered in being female.

My typical paradigm is that I do believe in public service. My father's a military man. He really does always speak about the fact that there is actually nothing more valuable that you can do than actually to serve your country. And I buy that.

Transforming our societies and our economies is an agenda that requires the participation of all. Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls are key. Including and empowering women and girls to develop and implement climate solutions is the right thing to do. It is also the smart thing to do.
